Thank you so much, although they staying warm is becoming more and more difficult. Now, let's keep our fingers crossed about the MTA strike.

Yeah, the MTA strike will make everyone's life more difficult :\

I don't know where exactly you live, but I'd highly suggest using the Chinatown buses should you need to do some cross-borough traveling. The Manhattan to Queens ones are only $2.50, and I'm guessing the Manhattan to Brooklyn ones should be the same price or lower, not much more than a subway ride.

I've never used the Chinatown buses, so I wouldn't know where to start, but I'll certainly look into it. They might be a good idea even without the strike since the express bus is $5.

Check out this article (http://www.thevillager.com/villager_97/whatsdriversthechinatown.html) from the Villager back in March 2005. It talks about the interborough van lines and indicates a few Brooklyn and Manhattan locations that might be useful.

Thank you. The Grand St. stop is great for me. Yes, there is some walking involved, but it's still better than the alternative. *g*
