hurricanehaters -- Hurricane haters, lovers, and survivors (The posts a few days back are more informative. Recent posts are more personal.)
weathernerds -- This comm's current posts all focus on Hurricane Katrina

I'm sure there are a lot more communities out there, as well as personal LJs with recent posts about Katrina. Here is polykleitos' post on Katrina news links yesterday. katrinacane is a journal that links to people who blog/report about Katrina directly from affected areas. I know xylodemon is writing drabbles for people who donated money to help relief funds that go to Hurricane Katrina, and there are probably a lot more people doing that all over LJ. And don't forget, donate through organizations such as Red Cross!
