The Month of Visiting
Jul. 1st, 2007 04:06 pmA whrilwind summary of my social life (yes, despite having two jobs, I do still have one of those ;)
C, a friend I'd met in a conference last year, was in NYC on a business trip. She called me up and we ended up going to Max Brenner -- a chocolate restaurant (yummmm) -- for dinner/dessert Thursday night. I only got something like 4 hours of sleep as a result, and I spent the following day in a sleep-deprived haze. But it was great meeting her though!
Friday night was spent with college friends. Two of my college friends who recently got married, A and M (not to be confused with the other A and M, who are also good college friends but they got married last September), were in town and organized a last-minute get together for dinner and hangout. I was already surviving on extremely little sleep so I passed on the hangout part. But a group of about 10 of us ate at Patsy's Pizza and I was both stuffed and had a wonderful time reliving days of the ol'Big Red.
Yesterday I came home after work and slept for 12 hours straight. *ded*
verdenia is in the city again and we're meeting up tonight! This time, I get to meet her for dinner without having to worry about going home for sleep, since I don't have to open tomorrow. I'm thinking about bringing her to a nearby Tibetan restaurant that I like, Tsampa.
Dad's visiting from Hong Kong. He's a former New Yorker so no need to show him around. In fact, he's already made a reservation for us at his favorite steakhouse, Broadway Joe Steakhouse, for next Thursday night. And then I'll be tagging along with him to Puerto Rico for a conference of his. Fringe benefits of having an academic in the family *g*
physibeth will also be visiting NYC! I haven't seen her in years, so I'm really excited about this. Hopefully we'll get to meet up.
*checks list*
I think that's it. Anyone else visiting NYC that I don't yet know about? 'Tis the season of visiting, apparently.
