In light of recent [livejournal.com profile] lj_biz events, I thought this might be helpful:

If you, like me, are one of those people who prefer to use an old(er) LJ viewing option scheme, you can make changes to your adult content flagging preferences without being forced to choose only among Horizontal, Vertical, and Lynx here.

I'm stubbornly clinging onto XColibur, and would sooner use Dystopia before opting for either Horiztonal or Vertical ;p

1) Here's me in the Epilogue meme. Let me know what you'll think of me when all my fannish activities are over (hopefully not anytime soon)!

2) In an effort to keep everything updated, I’m in the process of hunting down HP communities that have moved to GJ, IJ, and/or JF, mostly for newslettering purposes. I got most of the big ones, I think. But if your migrated community isn’t being watched on either of the [livejournal.com profile] _snitching_ journals on GJ or IJ, point me, please?

3) I've been debating whether or not to lock down my journal, and with all the ongoing LJ drama and possible implications, I'm leaning toward locking. In the next few days, I'm going to try to friend everyone back and go through the slow process of f-locking my posts. As for [livejournal.com profile] ziasudra, I'm going to leave that unlocked for now.

Just want to bring you all to attention about JKR's charity reading at Radio City Hall, New York City on August 1 and 2. You can find out more information on her Web site, just click on the newspaper (the link to the text only version doesn't seem to work).

The vital ticket ordering information, snipped from the TLC article:

From the Columbia Journalist: NYU Group Sponsors Film Competition Meant to Challenge Copyright Law
"The Film Remix Contest asks participants to make a five- to seven-minute parody from one of four blockbuster trilogies: Harry Potter (though there are now four HP films on DVD), Star Wars, The Matrix and Lord of the Rings. Parody is explicitly protected from the charge of copyright violation under Fair Use guidelines, a provision of the standing Copyright Act of 1976."

...

"The Film Remix Contest tests this concept against current law by encouraging participants to make works that are themselves legally protected, but whose process of creation is not."

I'm interested in the outcome of this contest: how many people will participate, whether anyone will get flagged for challenging the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), what this will do as a precedent for the US's fuzzy and confusing copyright laws, etc.
