Happy Thanksgiving to you American-type people!
The Family was here tonight. We watched four movies, ate a whole lot of food, and I spent the day being generally unproductive (tried to write an essay and how far did I get? Two sentences!).
My list of thanks. Disclaimer: this one is transferred directly from my personal journal, and I tend to be a lot more introspective when writing by hand. So, yes, I'm absolutely thankful for you all and for the more materialistic things in life, but my list here deals with some rather existential aspects of life.
Thanksgiving 2005
♦ I remember moments, when I would suddenly become aware that my heart is beating and my lungs are breathing, and I would be thankful for life.
♦ I'm thankful for grace, for that's the one thing that keeps me going whenever I feel like I'm just a walking corpse.
♦ I'm thankful for the times I get to spend at the school with my kiddies. For both last year and this year, there were times I feel like being in the school is the one positive thing I get to do in the day.
♦ I'm thankful for the friends around me. They remind me that there's a higher presence to live for.
♦ I'm thankful for those moments between sleep and consciousness, when my spirit cries out to God unhindered.
♦ I'm thankful for music. It sustains me.
Well there you go, about as sappy as I'll ever get ;)
And let's not forget to thank those who took the time to serve Thanksgiving meals at homeless shelters this year!
