I Have Good News, Girls and Boys
Mar. 27th, 2005 04:44 pmGood news for my teams:
Channel surfing between CBS and ESPN, I watched two exciting games as the Wisconsin Badgers played the UNC Tar Heels, and on the women's NCAA basketball front, as the Ohio State University Buckeyes played the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
RU-Rah-Rah! (Despite my less-than-fruitful 2 years working at Rutgers ;p) The lady Knights played a strong game throughout and advances to the regional finals with a 64-58 game. Though my speculation puts the end of Rutgers' winning streak here, since they'll be playing 1st-seed Tennessee next.
The boys' game was a lot closer, with the teams closing up point deficits and tying at half time and exchanging leads. But UNC managed to pull ahead in the last 3 minutes and rounded up a 88-82 win. Yeah!

And at Austin:
Michigan State and Kentucky battled for a chance to the Final Four. In regulation: 9 ties, 15 lead changes. Overall: 10 ties, 19 lead changes. Overtime with Kentucky's tying 3-pointer with less than 1 second on the clock. Double overtime. Michigan State wins, 94-88.
Random fact:
First time in NCAA Championship history for 3 out of 4 regional final games to go into overtime.
