Did a bunch of stuff last night with my dad visiting. Especially things I could never afford on my own. *g*

1. Dinner
First, it was dinner at Broadway Joe Steakhouse. The food was good (I had prime rib and sautéed "hash brown" potatoes). Also, this place seems to advertise a 20% discount pretty freely (I saw the coupon at numerous places), so our conclusion was that the "real" price for the food was the after-discount price. Oh, those poor people without coupons who had to pay the artificially inflated +20% price!

2. Still dinner (+ bathroom)
The highlight of the dinner was actually not about food. You see, the restaurant is quite big by New York City standards. But it only has two single-stall bathrooms, one for the female gender, and one for the male. Now, anyone could tell what a problematic planning faux pas this is, seeing how the female population far outnumbers the male when it comes to bathroom frequenting.

Two people were already waiting when I got in line. Unfortunately for us, the lady already inside the stall was terribly slow. We waited, and waited, and waited...

I'll spare you the boring details. But all three of us got so impatient that we ended up recruiting the male bathroom for our uses. Fortunately for us, not a single male patron showed up while we "borrowed" the other gender's facility
;)

3. Show time!
We saw Avenue Q. Cute show, well performed and good plotline, though it's not quite for kids despite the similarity between the show's characters and Semame Street puppets. More information about Avenue Q here.

With songs like "If You Were Gay," "Everyone's A Little Racist," and "The Internet is for Porn," the musical is both a social satire and opens up a Sesame-Street-like space to share one another's problems. Or a psychotherapist's bed
;p

All that to say, I very much enjoyed the show.

4. Ridin' with the Toys
I've been initiated as a *real* Toys R Us kid! After the show, we went to the famous Times Square Toys R Us and RODE THE INDOOR FERRIS WHEEL! *bounces* *squees* *is incoherent*

Even better: while I was waiting in line, I checked out all the different cars and really wanted to be in the Toy Story car with Woody, Buzz, and the three-eyed Alien. But since the ferris wheel has a total of 14 cars, I figured I'd be fine with NOT getting either the Cabbage Patch car or the pink girly car of whatever it is (Barbie? Bratz?). But dreams do come true, and we ended up in the Toy Story car. Whee! Including the loading and unloading, we ended up going around for like 5 times. *beams*

Picture (not us) behind the cut... )

5. Pineapple Under the Sea...
As we were exiting Toys R Us, I ran into SpongeBob SquarePants outside the store. I waved at him. He waved back!

6. Antigone Rising
Outside the Marriott Time Square, Antingone Rising was just finishing up their show. I didn't catch more than a few lines here and there, but they sounded good.

If anyone's interested, Collective Soul is performing tonight, 10:30-11 p.m., same place.

7. Sign Up for Hogwarts!
For those of you HP-fan people who have yet to use the new "schools" feature that Livejournal recently introduced, you can now register as a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!

8. Piled up work
After having spent the entire Friday night for fun, I now have so much work to do. Blech.

9. Er...
I was going to see if I could compile a list of 10, but my mind is blank at this moment. I guess not. Have a good day everyone!
