Christmas is over, and this means a shift of focus to New Year. Funny how the ads on TV and in newspapers are now dominated by special deals on weight loss programs. After that big Christmas/Chanukah/Kwanzaa meal, a diet is in the calling.

Potter v. Bush showdown
BlogPulse posted a year-end review for the world of blogging—2005: The Year That Blogging Evolved. Specifically under 2005 BlogPulse Year In Review is a fun trivia fact for you Harry Potter fans out there: Harry Potter was blogged more than President Bush during 2005. Fair enough, with both the Book 6 release and the showing of Goblet of Fire happening in 2005. I know my LJ habit definitely falls within the general pattern.

364 days, 24 hours... and 1 second
A "leap second" will be added at the very end of 2005, before the ushering in of the new year. BBC: New Year 'delayed' by leap second. I'm wondering how the Big Countdown is going to go. Will it start at T+9 with "10"?

Incidentally, I like the Chicago Sun-Times headline for its leap second article: Here comes 2006 -- but wait just a second. *g* (although the article seemed to have disappeared...)
