I've been tagged by [Bad username or site: akaisakura / @ livejournal.com]. So here's everything you want to know about my music listening habits:

Instruction:
List your current six favourite songs, then choose six others who have to do the same.

My current favourite songs (and I do stress the current) -->

1) Hacken Lee (and Long Long, pianist) -- I Cannot Sing (我不會唱歌). This song is AMAZING. Even if you don't know a word of Chinese, Go Listen and Watch the Music Video! (Just click on the Play button.) You'll need to be registered with Yahoo to do this.

I've been singing and playing the piano for close to 20 years, and have yet to find a pop song (yes, a pop song) as sophisticated as this one (read: challenging, very hard to sing, let alone sing well).

2) Israel Kamakawiwo'ole -- Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World. I like this song for many different reasons: it blends two songs that I like together, it's acoustic, and I'm currently trying to learn how to play this song on the guitar.

3) Ron Warren -- Jasmine (a Native American flute piece). I LOVE Native American flutes, so this song is just a representative of a genre I adore. Hear samples of Ron Warren's CD here.

4) Mindy Smith -- Come to Jesus. Mindy Smith's voice is amazing and she's extremely talented. Her style is a mix of folk/alternative/country. This is my favorite song by her, and I'm also learning to play it on the guitar.

5) George Frederic Handel -- Messiah (yes, the whole thing
I'm not cheating). Heh, I've loved this piece for over a decade so it'd be weird not to include it here. Incidentally, the most recent rendition of Messiah I heard was the gospel/"black" version, Handel's Messiah: A Soulful Celebration. Very cool CD.

6) Eagles -- Hotel California. I like both the band and the acoustic versions. What I don't like is when radios play this song, they cut out the instrumental part at the end (which is like half the song). The end part is the reason why I love this song
:p

Well, as for tagging people, I'm going to leave it up to volunteerism here. If you feel like sharing your favorite music, I'll be sure to read your entry and check out your favorite songs.

Cool. One of these days, I'll have to find you online and we must trade music. I want that "Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World" song. It sounds neat.

I'll listen to the Chinese song when I get home. I haven't listened to a Chinese song in ages. I'm amazed I could still read the Chinese characters for that song XDDD

My exact reaction when I first heard the song (it was on TV, he was performing live, sooo much better than all the teeny bopper Canto "singers" who can't even hold pitch)!

The lyrics is about the guy (narrator/singer) wanting to sing for a girl he likes, but all she notices is another guy's songs, hence the self-degrading title.

That's about the only Canto song I like though, since the general quality of Cantopop is *very* low :p This one just totally jumped out at me out of a pool of hundreds, and for good reason.

Ah I like classic canton pop (i.e. 80s to early 90s), mostly just one singer, Sally. The other stuff (current) is pretty pissy for the most part. The piano is pretty incredible for a song. Almost too complicated for the song and he really has to work it to keep up with the pianist.

Unfortunately all my good canton songs are tapes which I can't transfer to mp3s *sighs*.

Ah have you heard of F.I.R. They had 1 good song on their latest album. I should send you :) if you don't have it.
