Weekend Progress Report #2

Course: Problems & Methods of the Study of Islam.
Goal: Critical, well-thought-out paper, 15-20 pages, double-spaced.
Goal from now till next class: Finish and send in second draft.
Progress: Second draft: 4,631 words written, and an additional 157 words of outline notes the will be converted into part of the paper. Final length should be around 6,000 words.


Course: History of the Modern Middle East, 1750-1962.
Goal: Critical, well-thought-out paper, ~15 pages, double-spaced.
Topic: To examine opposition against colonialism in Morocco during the July 1912 revolt: were there elements of jihad exhortations? Did the nationalist discourse dominate? Were oppositions top-down or mobilized by the masses?
Due Date: May 10, 2005 by 5:00 p.m.
Progress: Skimmed through one book, nothing written yet ;p
