An Evening at an 8th Grade Concert

Went to Boy Cousin's eighth grade concert tonight. I haven't set foot in the WWP Middle School in 12 years (!) but things still looked the same.
Random observations of the night:
♦ The orchestra is almost all Asian. Well, at least the better players are all seated in the front. At first glance, it seems like there were more than 80% Asian. But tallying the roster printed in the program, I realized it's only a bit under 70%.
♦ For future reference: with said group of over two-thirds of more or less stereotypical Asians, do not attempt to perform a hoedown-type country piece. There was no "twang" whatsoever. Playing a fiddle number à la classical technique, with straight 4/4 rhythm, just... didn't work -_-
♦ Couldn't see Boy Cousin. He was all the way back in the brass section of the symphonic orchestra. But what glimpses I did catch of him, I can conclude that he likes to talk *g*
♦ Boy Cousin's best friend is really famous now. The assistant principal recognized him at the end of the concert. I bet all the Asian parents are going to use him as an example to get their children to study harder from now on ;p
Speaking of Boy Cousin's best friend...
We picked him up to go to the concert tonight. The subject of him meeting Bush came up. This was how the conversation went:
Boy Cousin: *listens to his iPod*
Ziasudra's Mom: So you got to meet the President.
Friend: Yeah.
Ziasudra's Aunt: Is he nice?
Friend: Yeah.
Ziasudra's Mom: Did you have a good time?
Friend: Yeah.
Ziasudra: Does he really look like a monkey?
Friend: *laughs* Yes!
What I meant was: Does Bush look like all the media depictions of him, especially in those Bush-looks-like-a-monkey political cartoon caricatures? Of course, the short version of my question came out. And now Boy Cousin's friend has confirmed the artistic ability of political cartoonists *g*
