Yesterday was Mid-Autumn Festival (for more information on the holiday, see my post last year on it), but my roommates and I did nothing to observe the day. I always thought it a disadvantage to live in a city during holidays when one needs to look above all the tall buildings to see celestial bodies. I definitely couldn't see the moon from my apartment window ;p

So I had a belated happy-mid-autumn-festival dinner tonight in Chinatown with [livejournal.com profile] sunnydlita, [livejournal.com profile] everydaysushi, and other friends. Seven-odd dishes from Yeah Shanghai and the total came out to only $7 per person! We had yummy soup dumplings and turnip pastry thingies and shreded tofu skin, among other things.

I managed to buy another batch of logan fruit before they disappear for good as summer ends. Still $5 per pound, without stems. Not bad.

Tomorrow, I shall eat moon cake, just to complete this year's Mid-Autumn Festival experiece *g*

Thankfully, Steven hasn't tried to make me eat moon cake yet this year. I just really don't like the stuff.

Shi nin kwi la! (I know I spelled that wrong, but I would do even worse trying to write it out in pinyin.)

Haha, but I love moon cakes! I like the kind without the egg yolk most -- I think I'm just a fan of the lotus filling. Happy belated Moon Festival to you!

You know, the first image that came to mind when you said oragne leaves was the fall scene in Animal Crossing ^_^;;

I love autumn (though my favorite season is still winter, I think). The cooler air, the still-relatively-bright days, the periodic heat waves interspersed with crisp days. Too bad I'm indoors 90%+ of the time.

Sorry again for making you wait, but I'm glad you came!

My buddy Sara loved the turnip pastry, so thanks for introducing those to her!

No problem. I was actually enjoying a rare alone moment when standing outside and waiting for you guys :)

I've started to order the turnip pastry at almost every Shanghainese restaurants I go to. Can you believe that the Shanghainese place I used to work at didn't have this dish? It's so yummm.

Mmmmmm dinner was soooooo good. Yeah Shanghai is not bad, not bad at all. :P Yeah sometimes at Green Bo, they'll give you one red been and one turnip pastry (b/c they come in twos)... but sometimes they're not in such a good mood to do that. Mmmmm... can we make this a weekly outing to Chinatown? :)

I was eating the leftovers from dinner just now... still as yummy as Saturday :)

I'd love to help [livejournal.com profile] sunnydlita on her project to eat at every Shanghainese restaurant in Chinatown. There are at least three other places I can think of that we can go to and have a very good meal.
