Just a heads up in case you missed it: LiveJournal started using Omniture to track 5% of its journals. Now, I'm somewhat familiar with Omniture. When I used to work at my Internet job, we used Omniture to track sales and site visitation stats. It's a good way for Web-based businesses to learn about their traffic. But in case you don't want to have the possibility of Big Brother hovering over your LJ, you can always go to the admin console and change your setting to opt-out.

(The admin console is a good place to use in general for things like banning unwanted users or inputting things like mood themes. Forgot the link to the console? It's listed under my "LJ Resources" links list in the right sidebar.)

Coffee Overdose
I've purchased over 14 pounds of coffee over the past week. Thanks to my gracious ex-shift supervisors and partners, as well as my still-functioning free-coffee-a-week benefit, I got enough markouts to help tamper the cost. The smell, however, is a different issue entirely. Between my shiny new espresso machine, the free espresso machine a client gave us at New Job, and playing dealer provider of quality Starbucks coffee to my co-workers and hence convincing about half of them to buy coffees through me, I've managed to make the living room smell like a coffee shop.

Not that I mind. I was shamelessly plugging my favorite coffee (the Ethiopia Sidamo), which, in my opinion, is the best smelling of the lot, and ended up buying something like 4 lbs of it and causing my living space to smell the most like Sidamo ^_^;;

Chinese Baked Goods
There's a local Chinese bakery that sells a variety of Chinese pastries that I like to go to. Due to recent inflation, buns that used to cost 0.60 can now be priced close to a dollar. But this store's pricing remains reasonable. And what's more, at 6 everyday, buns start to go for 3 for $1. At 6:30, 4 for $1. I bought 8 buns on my way back from work today.

I couldn't resist. As soon as I got home, I had a lotus-filled pineapple bun. Yum!

PS
Lastly, for those of you with whom I interact in RL: my apartment's phones (note the plural) died. None of them is working. Apparently it's been like that for quite a while. So, yeah, if you've been trying to call me and no one answers, that's why :p

Telephone?

You mean landline?

I didn't know anybody used those any more. Do you want mine? I haven't plugged it in in years but I'll be happy to mail it to you.

Hehe, thanks for the offer, but I think it has to do with everything breaking down -- first the phones went "thud," and then when we tried plugging in a backup phone that we know for sure works, which still has cords tied to the main receiver part (remember those? *g*), we got absolutely no signal from the actual phone port.

Ah, well. It's not like I can't call someone from work or my roommates' mobiles in case of real emergency.

This is making me eye the iPhone even more... ;)

Hmm, I might have to try that Sidamo, since you are so enamored of it. ;D
Also: must check for local Chinese bakery. My old neighborhood had a few, and I know there are some places on the local big street, but there are tons in the Richmond district, on Clement Street. Maybe when we go to get more Congo Tetras. ;D

The Sidamo smells incredible -- to me, that's a "foreshadow" of how yummy it tastes ;)

We did a special tasting with the Sidamo once. The supervisor on duty was a "Coffee Master" (someone who took classes and passed a long process on educating themselves about various coffee facts and related subjects). Try this if you ever feel so inclined:

1. Smell the Sidamo. Then take a "citrus scent" bottle (or just a lemon), smell it, and then smell the Sidamo again. You'll notice the scent memory of smelling the citrus "pulls out" the citrus aspect of the Sidamo smell.

2. Do the same thing, with the "floral scent"

3. If you have any lemon-y pastries on hand, do the same thing, except with the food (sip coffee, taste pastry, then sip coffee again). The citrus flavor will jump out at you.

It was a fun experiment when I did it. It really showed how much of the taste element I'd missed in drinking coffee "regularly." The hidden tastes are all there (so the coffee packaging isn't just making descriptions up *g*), lol.

All Chinese bakeries = love, imo. I'm don't ming buying the expensive ones when the mood strikes. I crave pineapple buns, egg tarts, etc. sometimes ;)

Ooh, very cool. That sounds fun, I'll have to try it. I haven't found the Sidamo yet though, I looked for it at the grocery store last night.

Yeah, we used to have a Chinese bakery just a few blocks from our old flat. It's still there, but we're about 3 miles away now. [since the street grid makes driving or walking the hypotenuse impossible] *g*

I really need to just take a stroll [or net search] along our local commercial street and see where they are! :D
That wiki on the pineapple buns was cool. Mildly scary with all the !highfat! warnings, but, eh. Moderation, right?

How's the full-time going?
